Shinzo, Japanese omakase style restaurant in Singapore!

Omakase in Japanese means "i will leave it to you" or "to entrust", which means that if you are having an Omakase style Japanese dinner, you are totally entrusting the chief to prepare food for you! Yep, you will not be required to make any choice or decision on what you want to it, just leave it to the chief! ^^

If you have not tried Omakase style Japanese dining and you are keen to, then you have to totally check out Shinzo, located at 17 Carpenter Street #01-01 (s)059906.

There isn't much publicity required for Shinzo as they cater to regulars and people who are truly food lovers. Hence they are not affected by the number of walk-in customers at all!

As Omakase style typically means that the Chief will you serving you in small portions ie. one sushi at a time, i have a ton of photos taken at Shinzo! hahahah

Just to share some of my favourites at Shinzo^^

I am sorry that i do not know some of the names to this dishes, simply because, i just ate what was served to me! haaha. Like i said, no requirements to order at all! This is some kinda grilled Cod Fish (i believe lolx), it is the BEST grilled fish i ever ever had!

Flame on!

Wait forrrr itttttttttt~~

OMG... This Tuna sushi that has been "grilled" by the bunsen burner is FREAKING DELICIOUS!

I forgot what fish this is, i believe its either yellowtail or swordfish~ Look at the way its grilled by the bunsen burner to perfection! with the outer layer well grilled and the middle of the meat fresh and rare~ =D~~ I am feeling hungry again....

Another grilled sushi~~ Who wouldn't love grilled sushi with mentaiko!!!!!! Its Perfect!

This was one of the starters that we had at Shinzo. every piece of sashimi is not only fresh (obviously~) they are all very very very succulent! Its hard to describe.. its definitely not the normal sashimi that you would have probably tried at Sushi Tei.. Suki Sushi... Sakae Sushi.... Its so so so juicy and succulent! Love X 10000000!!!

Okay.. i know you might be thinking "WTF? Tempura? so normal..." Hear me out... This is Tempura that is JUICY when you bite into the prawns or mushroom! It is perfectly fried! It is not your normal normal normal tempura at all! Crunchy on the outside, and JUICY TENDER on the inside!

Even the sauce for the Tempura dip is AWESOME! I can't say more.. but please just go and try the food at Shinzo! It is definitely breath-taking!

The service there is really great too! At Shinzo, you can expect to have a very personalised service where the chief, other than cooking for you, will serve you personally as well! Every single dish is plated properly, and if you happen to away from your seat, the chief will wait till you are back before serving the dish to you personally!

And ya, perhaps another one of its inter-personal touch is that the chief will have a toast and drink with his customers too!hee^^~

Shinzo's Omakase style of dining has totally won my heart over! And it is technically not very expensive for an Omakase style Japanese dining. Its about $150 per pax, and its definitely worth every single penny!

Yum yum~!!

Army Stew at Seoul Yummy!

As Korean food is getting more and more popular, the latest "in-thing" is the Korean Army Stew! Mich and I managed to find a restaurant that serves very delicious Army Stew in Singapore! Seoul Yummy!

As you can see, the price isn't too pricey at all!

Selfies while queueing up~ hee^^

As with any Korean restaurant, there will always be the standard Korean "Starters" to spice up and whet your appetite!

I've seen a lot of these in Korean variety shows, but this is the very first time that i'm actually trying it! Brown rice! Its a lot healthier than normal white rice but taste a little bland/weird though haha, i guess it takes a while to get used to it^^

For an additional $1.50, you get to upgrade your ice barley tea into the ice lemon tea with "aiyu". Please get this "upgrade" its definitely worth it!

Here comes the main attraction! Army Stew! The ingredients are plentiful and the soup is superb! Mich and I fell in love with this dish during our honeymoon at Seoul, Korea. We are so glad to be able to find a great tasting Army Stew in Singapore! =D~~

Mich enjoying her Army Stew`~ yummm yummm yummmmm~

We ordered kimchi pancakes as well! So far everything taste great at Seoul Yummy!

A must have! Korean Spicy Rice Cakes!

Check out our spread!

Ending a great dinner with a great dessert is kinda like the best thing in the world! hahahaha as what i always always tell mich after a hearty meal, a nice dessert is just like a happy ending! hee~

Ah Boys to Men Musical and Wine & Dine at Ocean Restaurant!

Perhaps two of my wife's favourite local artist would be Tosh and Wang Wei Liang, "LoBang". I must say, Jack Neo is pretty brilliant. All of his films before Ah Boys to Men typically uses the same cast over and over again. Not that they are not good, in fact they are very good at what they do; Spreading laughter, happiness and warmth to the audience! But by using new blood, new talents, new artist in the movie Ah Boys to Men, it totally brought his movies to a whole new level.

In my humble opinion, Singapore's show business needs ALOT of new talents (with passion of course), to bring our show business up to a whole new level. This refers to those working back-end as well.

Oh well.. i blabbered too much on this topic haha.

And yes, we were on our way to Resort World Sentosa to catch the <Ah Boys to Men Musical>!

Door gift for for catching the musical lolxxx, Ayam brand Sardines hahaha, basically its to fit into the "army theme" where in the past they only had can sardines for their day-to-day ration. Kinda creative though LoLx.

These 2 ladies went to buy their movie "booklets" just to get their signatures! -___-|||

On the way to Ocean Restaurant for dinner!

It took us quite a while to locate the restaurant! Its located within the carpark lor zzzz~ I mean.. ya .. its an aquarium themed restaurant so it has to be underground, but it really needs more signages to direct patrons to their restaurant!

The restaurant is pretty darn cool right! imagine dining while having these huge fishes swim around you!

It is really breathtaking! It took us quite a while to settle down before we could actually place our orders hahaha.

This stingray was swimming towards Mich, until she tried to "kiss" it hahahaha~

Doesn't it look like we booked the whole place hahahaha

Finally our food has arrived! For starters, as with every western cuisine, bread with butter~ But this time, the butter is pretty different. It has garlic and other spices in it which blends very very well!

Sadly.. I didn't had the time to blog earlier.. and i kinda forgot what this was called haha. But essentially, its a starter for us. Curry flavoured fish meat on sticks i believe (apologies if i quoted wrongly).

We can't possibly waste the ambience by not having any wines right? hee^^

This is pretty nice in my opinion. The "Red stuff" that you see is basically, watermelon. And the grey coloured meat shown in the center is raw prawns! Guess what... Raw Prawns X Watermelon = Good Stuff! hahaha it sounds pretty weird but taste pretty awesome!

The soup however, was pretty disappointing.. quite blend in my opinion..

I am sorry to say this but.. Ocean Restaurant is probably more of a place to experience dining in an aquatic ambient restaurant, rather than really going for good food.

Here comes the main course~ Wagyu Beef! the ala carte price for this main course is $85!!! And its definitely less than 300grams...

The money will be better spent at Mortons Steak House where you can get much better quality steak!

Dessert.. was.. pretty normal i must say. Nonetheless, the way they cooked/handled the banana was pretty good! But apart from that..

Well, although i didn't really think highly of the food at Ocean's Restaurant, Mich and I had a great day at Resort World Sentosa! The <Ah Boys to Men Musical> was good and we really had a great eye opener at the Ocean's Restaurant! The ambience is like none other, and i would probably not be able to find another restaurant like this!
