Best waffles from Hatter Street Cafe!

My wife has been complaining about the speed of my blog post on our recent Korea trip... one word - SLOW!... But i can't really help it though hahah because there are just so many things that are happening every now and then! But i hafta admit.. in comparison with other bloggers.. my posts are super duper slow and inconsistent T_T~

Anyways~

If you LOVE going to cafes, hanging out with friends over a cup of coffee/tea or cake, or if you absolutely love waffles then... you MUST check out Hatter Street Cafe! IMHO, they serve the best Waffles in Singapore!

Hatter Street Cafe has a very cozy feel to their interior. Perhaps my only 'complain' is that the seats and tables are too little (notice the queue waiting outside), other than that, i like the slightly vintage theme and very unique wallpapers/decorations that they have =)

Other than waffles, they do serve cakes as well and this was one of the very very interesting cake that I saw at Hatter Street Cafe, it's called Challenge Accepted! All you need to do is try it, guess the flavours/ingredients and if you get it right, you win a free cup of coffee haha. Quite interesting ya?

Honestly, i felt that the cakes and coffee served at Hatter Street Cafe are decent. Its nice, but not really something to "WOW" about. But its their Waffles! that makes Hatter Street Cafe so worth going to!

Their waffles are different from other places, whereby you order them as a set. What i mean is usually you will order waffles with a single scoop of ice-cream and you will get to choose what flavours you want and perhaps even what kinda toppings that you would like to add.

But over here at Hatter Street Cafe, these waffles you see above comes in a set. The first one (my personal favourite!) is the "Pandan Ice-cream with Gula Melaka Sauce Waffle" the very first time i heard about this waffle i was like.. wtf? Pandan Ice-cream??? But once i've tasted it... omg... world class waffles... the Pandan Ice-cream totally totally matches so so so well with the Gula Melaka sauce! And the waffles itself is crispy on the outside and totally soft on the inside! 100 marks!

The next waffle that you have to try is the "Vanilla Ice-cream with Salted Caramel Sauce" (bottom left) also another lovely match made in heaven =X LoLxx~~ The ice-cream + sauce + waffle just blends so so so well. you have to try it!

Last but not least is the "Chocolate Waffle" which is really normal though. Yes, the Chocolate Ice-cream is nice, the Waffle is delicious too! But it's a normal waffle dessert that you can probably find in most cafes/restaurants. Just to clarify once more, it taste great as well! Just that that really isn't any novelty in the Chocolate Waffle as compared to the other two.

So guys, please go and try out Hatter Street Cafe! You will definitely not regret it!

They are located at:

A date with Alsa at Fresh Fruits Labs & Sunday Folks!

Its been awhile since we've met up with Alsa, and what is a better place to meet up than at a Cafe!

Alsa waiting for us impatiently at Fresh Fruits Lab. See how big and bright her eyes are! almost triple the size of mine.... T_T

Fresh Fruits lab is a considered as a new cafe located at 351 Changi Road, you may also view their website here. I must say that since they are new, there were some minor "hiccups" during their service but its still acceptable for us as the lady boss is really friendly and will always sincerely apologise if she made any mistake.

This is really a first time for me haha. Orange Mocha~! See the Stringe? Its liquid brown sugar that i'm suppose to 'inject' into my coffee lolx. Innovation 100 marks but... the taste... not really to my liking... The Orange and Chocolate just didn't blend as well as i hope it would be.

Fruit juices~ Perhaps a must try in Fresh Fruits Lab. I can't remember the names to these juices though, its goes something like Fruit Beats and Vitamins Splash*, something like that lolxxx. Although you might argue that it's just a fruit juice! But it's quite a nice feeling you know, meeting up with friends and playing with their baby on a weekend sipping coffee, tea and juices. Its a nice thing to have^^

Omupie ordered this tea called Tokio and it is really really nice! It's super fragrant as it is berry flavoured green tea with flower petals. A great tea to go with the food that we ordered!

This is one of their must-try dishes! Check out their salads on the side, it has fruits in them too! It's the little details like this that i totally appreciate. It may not play a major role in the entire dish, but little add-ons like that in my opinion, adds a lot of surprise and new flavours to our taste buds!

I am so glad that we decided to share the main courses??? LoLXXxxx. And again, love love love their thoughtful fruit platter by the side =)

If you love chocolate cakes then you MUST try these 2 lovely chocolate cakes! It is as awesome as hell! The one on top has a rocher kinda taste to it and the Guanaja at the bottom is so so so rich in its chocolaty taste!

The rainbow cake however, was kinda normal in comparison to the cakes above. Its very cute though, but the taste... so-so only..

The both of us taking turns to carry/play with Alsa heeheee^^

I can tell how much Alsa wants me to carry her just by looking at this photo =)

Hurrr HurrR HurrRr~ And she's happy now^^

Omupie is probably gonna say i sibei thickskin =X

And last but not least, every customer will be entitled to these colorful test tube 'shots'. It's basically fruit juices like, beetroot, kiwi etc. It's not meant to quench your thirst or anything like that, but its a pretty cute idea to serve customers these cute little test tube juice shots =)

A happy baby showered by lots of love from everyone^^

Next stop is at Sunday Folks @Chip Bee Garden

The interior is pretty nice and cozy. A lot of customers come all the way here just for their waffles!

Water anyone?

Poor girl, she seems tired... but.....

Still continue playing with her! =X

And so its here, we ordered 2 ice cream flavours so that we can try them both. But we weren't able to order 2 separate waffles because we were just simple toooooo full!

We ordered the premium toppings which are these green tea 'stuff' that Omupie totally destroyed the looks of the waffle ice-cream with...

Overall.. i think Sunday folks is a pretty nice place to hang out with your friends but i really feel that i've tasted better waffles than this... which i will be blogging about on my next post! Stay Tuned!

Poor baby Alsa, cannot take it liao, needs to sleep like right now!

A photo of me trying to feed Alsa, and it isn't easy!!! she keeps using her tongue to 'play' / push the bottle outta her mouth haha.

Stay tune for my next post!

A visit to 49 Seats!

Still haven't finish posting on my Korea trip lolx~ yea.. i hafta admit that my progress is kinda like crawl.. super duper slow... But i guess its because i have been really tied up with work and other fun filled activities over the weekends, such as providing photography coverage for weddings ^^

Today's post is back to our "mainstream" topic of cafe hopping!  And this time we went to 49 Seats!  It isn't much of a cafe if you were to ask me, its more like a restaurant instead. At 49 seats, they primarily serve main courses. For desserts, it's essentially their waffle with ice-cream as well as brownie with ice-cream. They do not serve cakes and their coffee/tea is really just.. normal coffee and tea.. no Lattes, espressos, fraps, blaa.. blaaaa.... bllaaa.... So if you are expecting to go there with friends to chit chat over a coffee and cakes then... you will be disappointed T_T

Pretty cool table number eh? haha =X

They are open from 6pm onwards and close at 1am. For Fridays and Saturdays they close at 430am instead. But guess what? They are closed for the whole day on Sundays... Very weird operating hours if you were to ask me as i do not foresee myself going to 49 Seats for.... supper? spaghetti and western food for supper isn't my cup of tea~ I still prefer prata, dim sum, hawker food for supper LoLx~ Old School Stuff ya~

The interior design of 49 Seats is also pretty old school~ And the seats are pretty limited as well, but not to worry, they have a lot of seats available outside the cafe. Although you won't be able to soak into the atmosphere that the theme of the cafe brings, you still get to taste their food though~

As usual, wifey ordered a cup of Ice Lemon Tea (boring.... =X) while i tried their House Fizz, Mango flavoured! Which is... even more boring.... LoLxxx its basically mango syrup at the base of the cup.. the drink its those kinda soda water thingy.. mix it up together and you have 49 seats very own House Fizz...

*speechless*...

0 points for that...

The waiting time for the food can take pretty long, so be prepared to take some selfies or have some self entertainment before your food is served, heee~ =X

This was on the recommended list. One of their finer food, fish bites! its not bad~ pretty tasty and fresh! And i would really recommend this dish if you were to swing by 49 Seats.

And great finger food / starter by 49 Seats! Golden Escargots! I personally LOVE LOVE LOVE Escargots, especially those served at Jack's Place, Escargot with Garlic!

But this is different though, it's basically fried Escargots. Which taste pretty awesome, but .. still.. cannot be compared to Escargots with Garlic oil~~~

Okay, i hafta admit.. it was pretty lame of me to order fish & chips when i already ordered the fish bites... zzzz.... The fish and chips was pretty normal for me.. no 'WoW' factor..

While the Tom Yum Sauce was really freshly made and had like fresh ingredients in it, such as prawns, mussels etc. It wasn't very very fantastic as well. In fact, it was a little bit on the too salty side... While i applaud the chef for using so many great ingredients to make the sauce.. the taste just didn't quite bring justice to the ingredients used..

Wifey had the creamy smoked duck spaghetti, which is also highly recommended. It isn't too bad, at least the cream base wasn't too overpowering~ Wont't make you feel very 'jer lat', and the smoke duck is pretty nice too.

Their dessert.. in particular... their waffle with ice-cream.. is... disappointing! It is really really just normal waffles with maple syrup, chocolate sauce and 2 scoops of normal ice-cream. There is nothing different about their waffles at all..

so sad... i was looking forward to their desserts.......

Oh well.. at the end of the day, i really felt that 49 Seats is slightly overrated. The food really isn't that great and it doesn't justify the effort to go all the way there for a meal...

Will i go back to 49 Seats? Probably not... my own personal ratings? Perhaps.. 3/10 stars...
