Pinkish treats at Ritz-Carlton (High Tea)!

Exams are tough... but luckily for me, Wifey and her friends always got good food places to bring me to! (although she will attack me for not being able to lose weight afterwards T_T). But that's alright! Because who turns away from great food ya?

This time though, it isn't really main courses and savoury food items. We are going for high tea at Ritz-Carlton! *warning, this theme pink theme changes seasonally, so you hafta check what's the current theme first*

Super pinkish lolx, this was what actually caught wifey's eye and the main reason why we went to Ritz-Carlton for high tea.. but............

This was the one and only pinkish thing/table/treats there.. the rest of the high tea items are placed in normal buffet-like setting, which i honestly didn't bother taking photos of...

I hafta give it to them for the decor though. It is done very nicely, clean, sweet and comfortable. Definitely a great place to catch up with your friends over tea/coffee and desserts. BUT the service there was pretty disappointing though..

1. We were strolling amidst the center of the high tea area looking for someone to serve us, and this only happened after like.. 10mins? Aren't we at Ritz-Carlton? This is so disappointing...

2. The waiters/waitresses were not knowledgeable on their product knowledge. Every simple question that we ask, they have to seek verification from their manager. Simple questions such as "Are my drinks free flow?", "can i pick any drink from this list or do i have to stick with 1 particular drink throughout the session? " ..... zzzZzz

3. We had to flag for the waiter/waitress to clear our tables (the table is very very small, catered for small plates of desserts only). And if you were there, you would probably be seeing an 'idiot' like me waving and waving in the air just to catch their attention..

4. Food items replenishment are so slow.. The pretty looking pink table full of pastries and desserts are literally 'botak' after 30mins to 45mins, and the replenishment for them came in multiple waves of like 9-10 pieces? You literally never see it being fully replenished from 3.30pm onwards (high tea starts at 2.30pm).

These are my 4 main pet peeves i had during our high tea session... luckily the pastries were decent LoLx or else...

The macarons are great! a little bit too sweet but nonetheless it's pretty good =)

Don't bother.. unless you want a jaw breaker / tooth smasher / another dental surgery....

These 2 are my personal favourite. Shortcake and Velvet cake! Very soft and delicious =) Definitely not tough and dry like some of the Velvet cakes/cupcakes that i've tasted before.

Apart from their pastries/desserts, they do have savoury food items as well, which i must say are pretty nice! I wasn't expecting that much 'effort' for their savoury items, but it turned out a lot better than i expected =)

The one in front is the smoked chicken with bread/mini croissant and that is really good. But the goose liver... those greyish things behind... omg... please don't bother... it's horrible..

i personally quite favour this item^^ Smoked salmon =D~

Their sandwiches are all very very nice! Love it! I don't mind having them for breakfast everyday lolx =)

Half-boiled egg in truffle sauce! THIS IS SIMPLY GORGEOUS! must try!!! =)

Scones are a must for me when i'm having high tea, and the scones here do not disappoint! The strawberry scone behind is my favourite!^^

Cam-whoring time~

Overall it was a great experience! If only the service was better...

It's pretty pricey though, the total bill for 4 pax was $245. But was it worth it? I guess it was (try at least once kinda thing), but i would not be coming back again to Ritz-Carlton for high tea unless they are gonna come up with a whole new menu or something.. then perhaps?

=)

Back to mugging for my exams.... sian.........

We are expecting a baby!

2015, SG50 definitely is gonna be the most remarkable, memorable and lovely year for Wifey and I^^

Because....

There are some who may have already known that we are expecting. My name did not turn up on the list of those who will be going overseas during the end of the year for work, therefore many there were many speculations that Wife and I have gotten ourselves a SG50 baby. While that is true.. it was really really hard for me NOT to tell anyone at my workplace, because everyone just kept asking and probing lolx. The person i could and had to tell was my immediate supervisor, because i needed him to get me out of the overseas list.

I could still remember the both of us being very very shocked and surprised that the pregnancy test kit showed positive! In the end.. we ended up taking the test with 5-7 other pregnancy test kits of various brands lolx, with all of them showing the same positive signs =)

After double confirming, triple confirming and even quadruple confirming that we are really pregnant, we were like kinda lost momentarily for .... 10secs? we were like... "now do what ar?" LoLxx~ Lostttttt... and best part is, you can't tell anyone about it until the first trimester is over!

I immediately looked for my best friend = Google.com, and frantically searched for a good/recommended gynae. But there were loads of them... all packed with good reviews... *sweat* in the end we decided on Dr. Chen Lin Han, who delivers at Mt. Alvernia (which was where i was born too^^). So far, no regrets on our choice, as Dr. Chen Lin Han was really professional and attentive to our worries and questions (although he speaks a little bit too fast at times ahahha).

In just a blink of an eye we have past our first trimester! Everything has been great! Baby is developing well and healthily. We recently received the Harmony Test results and it shows that everything is normal too =) We even got to know the gender of our baby from the test and it is............................... *SECRET =X

Hee~~ I plan to unveil a little at a time of our baby ^^

Lastly, thank you all for your well wishes and blessings, Mich and I felt it, and i am sure our baby must have felt it too!

Soi 19 Thai Wanton Mee, Ang Mo Kio Ave 5 Kopitiam is great!

I'm quite sure most if not all Singaporeans who has been to Thailand, Bangkok would have definitely ate the Soi 19 Wanton Mee. Guess what? It is now in Singapore!

Well.... this is definitely old news but only recently, wifey and i got to try it out!

Their stall is at Ang Mo Kio Ave 5, Block 151. You will not miss it because there is definitely going to be a long queue regardless of the time you are there! I had to queue for about 40mins++ but it was so worth it!

It looks very plain, dry and 'tasteless'... but once you begin to chew onto the noodles, you will realise that the noodles are in contrary, very very springy and tasty! Even the char siew, which looks kinda dry, is very tender and tasty! Usually we would prefer char siew that is slightly charred and has malt kinda taste (i dunno what it is called), but this one is really different. It looks normal but the taste behind it clearly shows that a lot of 'kung fu' and effort has been put into it =)

When we were there, we noticed a lot of people ordering dim sum from the Kowloon Hong Kong Disum stall as well, and decided to give it a try.

Itttt wasssss GOOoooooddddDdddddd =)

Perhaps the best 'liu sha bao' custard bun that i've ever had~ super tasty but will NOT make you feel 'ger lat'. I was so greedily chomping down on all my food that when i realised that i should have taken a close up photo of these dishes, there was no more! LoLXxx ^^

But oh well... i am so sure that we will be here again because... the food here is simply so good!

Last but not least, wifey and i are a big big fan of Ice Lemon Tea. Lolx, although this looks, seems and is pretty normal... the Ice Lemon Tea here is SO NICE! First time in my life, wifey actually agreed to order 3 cups of Ice Lemon Tea to share hahahahAHA. Usually at most 2 max, 1 for us each to drink. But because the Ice Lemon Tea here is SOOOOO NICEEEEEE, we had to order a 3rd cup to share =X

Really hoping to revisit this Kopitiam again soon, the sze char here also looks very good! The only downside to this kopitiam is that there are too limited tables and seats, so you need to be there very early or be prepared to share tables with others.

=D~ .... hungry liao........
