Tom Yum Kung Fu!

Ever heard of Mookata? Well there's a new 'version' of it called Tom Yum Kung Fu~! While it is unfair to say that Tom Yum Kung Fu is a replica of Mookata (you can find Mookata at Goldenmile Complex), they are pretty similar with regards to how their food is prepared and served.

Nonetheless, Tom Yum Kung Fu is a very nice spot to have a great meal with family and friends. Also, the pricing is really really affordable! Great food at great prices, what's there not to LOVE!

There are 2 Tom Yum Kung Fu outlets, one at Boat Quay and the other at Serangoon Gardens (which is the one we patronised). The atmosphere was great. The food smells delicious the moment you step into the restaurant.~~ hHhhunnGrRrYyyy~~

As you can see, the mode of eating is similar to Mookata. Basically you have the option of grilling or steamboat, 2 in 1. And the key to why this is so delicious, is partly because they use pork lard (ya i know its unhealthy, but who cares!) to grill your meat, and after all the meet is cook and sizzling~ the oil or IMHO "essence" =X will flow into the soup of the steamboat! Woooooo~

But the key difference Tom Yum Kung Fu is different from Mookata, is that it uses charcoal instead of gas. And with that, it gives you a very nice "authentic" flavour for your meat!

I bet no "ordinary human being" will NOT drool at the sight of this picture! =D~~

Notice the MaMa instant noodle that came with our meal? That's one of the fabulous implementation to their menu. And this is also the "gem" that sets Tom Yum Kung Fu a part from the typical Mookata. You can not only cook the instant noodles into the already VERY VERY delicious soup (that gets even tastier with every grilled meat), you can add the Tom Yum seasoning into the soup as WELL! OMG..... WORLD BEST!

If i have to rate this restaurant, it would probably be a 10/10! I will definitely revisit this place for more meals to come!

Like i mentioned previously, Great Food at a Great Price!

** omg.. i feel so hungry NOW! hahahaha **

Staycation at Studio M Hotel and the best Kway Chap in Singapore!

Times flies so so so fast when you are enjoying yourself.. the reverse is also true, and feels somewhat "sadistic" when you are stressed out at work and time seems to crawl~ aArrrgGhh

Anyway~ i feel super duper recharged right now! The Staycation that wifey planned for us was sooo shiok! (aka. good).

We had  a 2D1N stay at Studio M hotel which is adjacent to Clark Quay. It is supeerrr convenient^^ But, it being a staycation, we stayed indoors most of the time and even hit the gym to sweat it out together! LoLxx "once in a Blue Moon".

Before we headed down to Studio M, we went for brekkie first, at probably one of the best Kway Chap in Singapore! Its at 560 Macpherson Road, Sin Fong Restaurant.

Check out this lovely bowl of delicious, heavenly, finger licking good dishes! The sauce is just right and the dishes were all cooked to perfection!

At first, the "sauce" for the Kway looked very white and seemed tasteless. But after i stirred it abit... OMG.... Its so damn nice la! It was so good that my wife even ordered a second bowl, when she usually only eats one!

This has to be one of my newly found favourite Singapore style brekkie! I'm sure most Singaporeans would have heard of this particular Kway Chap stall, Sin Fong restaurant at 560 Macpherson Road. But if you haven't tried it! you are so so so missing out!

Back to our Staycation^^

After a hearty meal (still thinking about it~~~) we headed down to Studio M hotel and was greeted with big smiles by the staff over there. Their service is pretty good. The car park to the hotel is pretty small, so if you are driving there, go early to chop the lots LoLx!

You might feel that the room seems a little cramped and well... the toilet doesn't have a tub.. which is pretty disappointing for me, but at least it was a comfortable stay for the both of us. The reason the room seems cramped is because.....

It is a 2 storey room!

Kinda cool ya? If i had a studio apartment (which such a high ceiling), this would probably be how i would want to design my room lolx.

After chilling in the room for a bit we decided to have some late lunch at a cafe right beside us, The Book Cafe.

I LOVE THIS CAFE! It is super super cosy and the staff there are so nice!

We managed to only get seats at the outdoor area cause it was just too packed. half of the indoor area has sofa seats which looked sooo comfortable! Almost all the patrons there can be seen with laptops, tablets etc. because the stall owner has very very nicely set-up a free wifi service for everyone! And on top of that, there are a lot of books, magazines and newspapers that are ALL UPDATED for you to just grab off the shelf and take a read. There is ALOT of reading material over there and with all sorts of genre too!

Imagine this, if you are into Golf magazines, Men's Health, T3 and some Car magazine, instead of spending $$ to buy so many magazines a month, just head over to The Book Cafe and cup yourself a coffee in a super duper relax environment, and you get to read all these for free! And yes, their magazines are all updated!

Who wouldn't love a nice cup of latte in the lazy afternoon~

This has to be my favourite~! Natsu Beri, Shibuya Toast! I never expected bread toast to go so well ice-cream! This is high recommended if you are going there for the first time!

If you are heading to The Book Cafe to chill and catch up on some reading, this is a MUST HAVE. imagine snacking on corn chips with salsa sauce while reading your books or doing your assignments... GODLIKE! (adapted from Dota 2 LoLx).

Nearly couldn't leave The Book Cafe because it was just too comfortable~ T_T But nonetheless, we made our way back to the hotel and this time we went to the gym to sweat it out!

Hee~ Selfie again =X

Yes, you can chill over here with friends and soak in the sun while chit-chatting^^

I didn't take photos of the swimming facilities because there were ladies in bikinis taking a dip, which i may end up with a black-eye and swollen face if i were to take photos of the pool, and them, indirectly. =X

The gym is pretty decent. It is an outdoor gym, so you won't feel "cold" or feel like you are having a hard time to perspire. All in all, we pretty much enjoyed the facilities there =)

Breakfast for the next day was pretty superb as well! Check these out!

I was still kinda sleepy (first time actually waking up early to have breakfast at a hotel...), regretted not being more pro-active in taking photos of the breakfast there. There are still stuff like cereals, porridge, some asian style breakfast spread etc. But oh well.. sleepy sleepy zzZzz

AWwww... Time passes so so fast...

Back at home and mugging for exams now.. T_T

Kin Kin Chilli Pan Mee~!

So.. Okay~ there has been quite a buzz over this "Kin Kin Chilli Pan Mee" that originated from Kuala Lumpur. A lot of bloggers and online news sites have given their reviews on them and so far it has been pretty positive. My wife and I decided to wait for the buzz to cool down first before going to try it out~ (didn't wanna queue for hours just to try it).

The queue over at Kin Kin Chilli Pan Mee (534 Macpherson Road) wasn't very long. I guess the hype may have probably tone down already. But it's good for us haha~ no need to queue and can eat straight away.

The place is pretty clean and most importantly.. it is AIR CONDITIONED! =) This is kinda how it works over there, after taking your orders, the "waiter" will pass you your order slip, and you will bring it over to the cashier to make payment first before they send your orders over.

Ta~Da~ The main event for the day! Kin Kin Chilli Pan Mee! It looks very good i must say^^ But you must add a lot of chilli, or else it would taste kinda bland.

Looks great ya~! but.... in all honesty.. i was disappointed... the taste was.. very normal.. nothing fantastic about it.. its pricey and not worth making the trip to try it.

Kinda sad eh? After all that hype and thousands of positive reviews about it.. i really didn't think it was that great at all.

Without this chilli, the noodle would have been tasteless, IMHO.

I wack quite a lot of chilli into my bowl of noodles but it really isn't spicy at all. Just adds so kinda flavour to it. So you really don't have to be afraid to "spam" this chilli onto your noodles.

This fishball soup though, i kinda liked it. Its very very Q and juicy. The soup is pretty normal, but the fishballs are really nice^^

Thats all we had over there.. While their menu had a lot of different noodle dishes, they only served their signature Kin Kin Chilli Pan Mee. I guess in order to cope with the huge influx of customers, they decided to just serve one dish.

All in all..

disappointing....

Will i patronise them again? Probably not.. T_T
