Top seafood restaurants in Singapore! Hua Yu Wee!

A few days ago we celebrated my Mother-in-law's birthday! It really isn't hard for our family to decide on where to go for dinner because we always have great suggestions from Ben (wife's sister's boyfriend) to give us his always well received recommendations =)

This time we went to ~~~~~ *drum roll*~~~~~~~

Hua Yu Wee!!!

Most of you would probably have heard of Long Beach, Red House, Crab Party, Eng Seng restaurant at Joo Chiat etc. But i guess not many people may have heard of Hua Yu Wee^^

As you can see from the outer infrastructure of the restaurant, they have a super duper large kitchen just by the side of the entrance where you can literally view how they handle the food.

Cindy took a Taxi together with Ben to the restaurant. Once she tells the Taxi Driver that she wants to go to Hua Yu Wee, the Taxi Driver immediately knew what she meant! According to him, Hua Yu Wee is a 老字号 a.k.a. well known reputable establishment that has been around for many years. So most 'older folks' would definitely know of this place!

The three sisters with mother before the food arrives.

The interior of the restaurant is super old school! but it's maintained very very well. One interesting thing to note is that their waitresses all wear Kebayas. After probing a little bit, we realised that their boss is a Nonya, and hence wanted to retain this cultural heritage.

Very long never eat this liao, fried baby squid! Super duper crunchy and tasty!

Shark's fin that is super authentic and uses real ingredients to cook this dish! It is quite fairly priced, if i don't remember wrongly, this huge bowl cost around $48 and it could serve around 7-8 people.

Fried You Tiao with Fish Stuffings anyone? =)

Feng Sha Chicken, super crispy! Its kinda made to be as thin as peking duck, if you get what i mean. Definitely worth a try and if you noticed, theres a flower on the left side of the plate, that is hand-made! As in... it is not a design that comes with the plate, it is done manually by hand each and every time^^ I had to elaborate on this small detail to show how meticulous they are!

Stir fry baby Kai Lan is a very basic dish that we will always order and the Baby Kai Lan at Hua Yu Wee totally did not disappoint! Taste great, smells great and still retains its crispiness too!

Wifey's favourite meat dish, Deer Meat! the portion is super huge and each slice of meat is super thick! Not like those "Sze Char" at kopitiams where they serve you very stingy slices... This is perfect!

The butter prawns were a little bit not to my expectations actually, especially after tasting so many dishes that overwhelmed me. Nonetheless, it is still fairly nice =)

How can we pass up on crabs at a seafood restaurant?! Love the pepper crab here! It is not as "buttery" as the pepper crab served at Eng Seng Joo Chiat Restaurant. It is slightly more pepperish and definitely as tasty as the ones served in Joo Chiat! Dam nice la!

Have you noticed that they even bother to do plating for their crabs? Most restaurant would just cover everything else under the top shell of the crab lolx. The chilli crab is .... GOOD! Must must must try!

And how can we forgot the little golden buns that complements the Chilli Crab 100%? =X

This is a place that i will definitely revisit! Every single dish was great! While the price is a little bit on the high side, 6 of us paid $360, but the portions are definitely not stingy at all! Very value for money^^ You can check them out here for more reviews!

Do try out Hua Yu Wee whenever you are craving for seafood! And remember to make advance bookings because they are always packed! =)
